Congratulations to the Class of 2009

Our School

The Dobbs Ferry High School is a small, exemplary four-year comprehensive school with a strong college preparatory program serving a wide range of students.  The school is accredited by the State University of New York and the Middle States Commission on Secondary Schools. In addition to the full array of Advanced
Placement classes, Dobbs Ferry High School offers the prestigious International Baccalaureate degree.

The school serves over 400 students in grades 9-12.  Over 90% of our graduates pursue further education.  The faculty is deeply involved in the development and refinement of programs and encourages students to participate in activities that demand high levels of responsibility and commitment.

From the Principal

On behalf of the administration and staff of Dobbs Ferry High School, I would like to welcome you to the 2008/2009 school year.  As I begin my fourth year as principal of Dobbs Ferry High School, I am truly excited about our focus of continuing the process of improving teaching and learning in the classroom.

Our dedicated staff, supportive parents, and high achieving students are all committed to creating an environment in which all students are empowered to reach their individual potential, respect and value themselves and others, and become life-long learners. Additionally, our school features a rigorous and academically demanding International Baccalaureate Program which provides students with intellectual, social, and cultural preparation necessary for success in the global marketplace. For the past several years, through an expanded International Baccalaureate Program, not only are more students given access to the rigor of IB classes, but more students are passing IB assessments with a score of four or higher.

Communication between home and school is a high priority at Dobbs Ferry High School. If at any time you feel the need to discuss your childs achievement, please contact our staff through e-mail, voicemail, or leaving a message in the main office.

If you have any suggestions for our website, please contact us through e-mail.

Go Eagles!!!

International Baccalaureate Program

In 1998, Dobbs Ferry High School became the first high school in Westchester County to belong to the prestigious International Baccalaureate (IB)  Organization.

The IB Program is a comprehensive and rigorous, two-year, pre-university course of study offered to eleventh and twelfth grade students.  The Diploma and individual IB coursework are widely recognized by universities around the world as a symbol of academic excellence.  The curriculum is internationally recognized and leads to examinations that demonstrate mastery of subject content as well as academic skills.  Students who participate in advanced level courses are expected to take the appropriate IB and/or AP exams. Students' work is assessed by an international board of examiners, who are rigorously trained and monitored by the IB Organization.

Dobbs Ferry adopted the program because:
  • IB fosters academic excellence by encouraging students to take a more active role in their learning, to think critically, and to integrate writing skills into all their coursework.
  • IB fosters excellence in teaching by raising standards and expectations for all.
